Azleena’s killer Zuhair found dead in Dhiffushi

Abdulla Zuhair, who was convicted of the brutal murder of a female colleague back in 2001, has been found dead.

Azleena Nafees, 27, a secretary at the Traders’ Association, was found dead in the restroom of her workplace on April 5, 2001.

His colleague, Zuhair, was convicted of her murder and sentenced to 25 years in prison in August 2002.

However, he was released from prison in 2013, less than halfway into his sentence.

The 48-year-old was found dead on a joali in the beach area K. Dhiffushi, where he had been living for the last couple of years, at around 11:30 am Sunday.

According to a Dhiffushi councilor who spoke to Sun, Zuhair showed no visible signs of injury.

A police team has been dispatched to the island to investigate the case.

Locals suspect Zuhair had been a drug addict.

Azleena’s shocking murder in 2001 had also produced life sentences against two more people; Ibrahim Hamdhee and Abdulla Ismail – both from GDh. Hoadedhdhoo.
